BLACK SHEEP (2006) [feature]

New Zealand (MIFF2007,Full Moon Fever)
Director: Jonathan King

Director Jonathan King will be a guest of the festival and will be introducing the first screening of Black Sheep

“A freaky-fun flick that's equal parts loony lamb-poon, revolting ram-page, and, yes, shear madness.” - efilmcritic.com

First-time feature filmmaker Jonathan King proves his salts in this well-made comedy/horror hybrid of animals gone wild. The black sheep of the title are an experiment in genetic engineering that goes horribly awry, turning normally docile wool-bags into savage killers. As the SXSW Film Festival asked, “With the potential of more than 40 million blood-thirsty sheep, can New Zealand survive?”

Demonstrating a firm grasp of the genre and a tongue that stays firmly in cheek, King has created a film worthy of cult status. Visual effects come courtesy of the highly regarded Weta Workshop who were responsible for Lord of the Rings and King Kong.

“The finest New Zealand export since Return of the King.” - efilmcritic.com
