Director: Robin Carruthers

The dramatic story of how new life was brought to the immense desert of the Sudan by harnessing the waters of the River Nile, and creating such fertile country as that of the Gezira Cotton Scheme: how this achievement was brought about by means of a partnership with the Sudanese people; and how they benefited thereby. Against the documentary background of these momentous changes, Hassan, a Sudanese born in the tiny desert village of Remeitab, tells the story of his own life and contrasts it with the exciting possibilities which science and co &ndash: operation have opened up for his grandson and the other young people of today.
