Entr’acte (1924) [Short]

France (MIFF1957,Avant-Garde)
Director: René Clair

This early Clair film was to be the entr'acte between the two parts of Rolf de Mare's Swedish ballet "Relache". Picabia intended it to be a procession of dreamlike cerebral images, divorced from the pretensions and hypocrisies of conventional life, entirely de¬voted to the pleasure of invention. Its spirit is jocular and it tells the fantastic story of a funeral in different rhythms. The names of the collaborating group of artists, all associated with the Dada movement, define the film's artistic background.
