Art Pepper: From A Jazz Survivor (1982) [Short]

USA (MIFF1984)
Director: Don McGlynn

Art Pepper, one of jazz's greatest alto saxophonists, is a survivor, he has survived heroin, prison and self-loathing. We hear stories, often amusing, sometimes tragic, which were the emotional reference points of his creative life.

Integrated with the stories are live performances of three of his compositions "Red Car","Patricia", and "Miss Who" which capture Pepper at the height of his musical powers.
