A PHOENIX TOO FREQUENT (1971) [Feature]

UK (MIFF1973)
Director: George Roman

This film version of Christopher Fry's verse drama was produced by the Stockton and District YMCA, to enable young professional artists and film technicians to work on an experimental project.

The play is based on the Petronius story of the Ephesian widow who is determined to die upon her husband's tomb, taking with her a devoted maid. Her pious intentions, however, are frustrated by the young soldier who guards the tomb.
