THE SON OF AMR IS DEAD (1975) [Feature]
Director: Jean-Jacques Andrien
A young Belgian journalist, Pierre, has a successful partnership with an Arab pickpocket, working the Belgian subways.
Later, Pierre discovers his fellow thief dead in mysterious circumstances.
He decides to leave his girl¬friend and son in Brussels and visit the dead man's village in Tunisia, in an effort to find out more about him. He is unable to discover anything, and begins to doubt even whether the Arab died after all.
Although the film has been seen to reflect the concerns of Antonioni's The Passenger, the director, Jean-Jacques Andrien, has adopted quite different visual styles for the North European, Belgian and North African sequences.
