The Minotaur (1989) [Short]

France (MIFF1990,Fiction)
Director: Raphael Caussimon

Something's been done to the signs along the passageways of the Parisian Metro and three million passengers get lost within the confusing network of corridors, that constitute this twentieth century labyrinth. Through stylized movement and music (courtesy of rock star Suzanne Vega and Betty Blue's composer Gabriel Yared) a modern re-telling of the Minotaur myth unfolds. In addition to its classical associations, this is a wittily reversed variation of the Pied Piper story, adding a clever twist to the proverbial notion of the blind leading the blind. Assured camera work and astute editing enhance a captivating, contemporary fairytale.
