The Match That Started My Fire (1991) [Short]

USA (MIFF1992,Experimental)
Director: Cathy Cook

The Match That Started My Fire is a joyous hymn to the female orgasm — as unwittingly discovered and experienced by women in their childhood and early teens. Climbing a rope, descending a slide, being stung by insects...a host of women tell, on the soundtrack, their hilarious anecdotes of the 'matches that started their fire', as a series of elusive fast cut images evoke a world of 1960's kitsch and nostalgia, with occasional darker hints of taboo and transgression. With a guest appearance by filmmaker George Kuchar, this is one of the best movies of the year, in any gauge, in any length. (AM)
