Parallel Space: Inter-view (1992) [Short]

Austria (MIFF1993,Austrian Experimental Films)
Director: Peter Tscherkassky

An intensely physical and intimate film, which combines hypnotic flickering visuals (shot entirely with a photo camera) with a combative and at times haunting staccato soundtrack. Within a spatially and temporally smashed textual landscape, images seem to exist in a nether world, which never allows them to be freed into continuous motion or to escape the burning fixation of the film's remorseless projection. Tscherkassky's film situates itself in a Bergsonian mindscape dominated by sheets of past, a dogmatic prehistory which is unable to be traced to its source — which must always replicate — and which conjures up so many images, so many haunting memories.
