Horse/Kappa/House (1995)

U.S.A (MIFF0)
Director: Abraham Ravett

Horse/Kappa/House is an ambient record of the landscapes that surround several villages in Japan's Iwate Prefecture. It gives us a set of disconnected story elements, from regional folktales, that reflect the contemplative tone, geography and temporality of the film. The film finds a cinematic space (through time-lapse photography, the subtle dance of light) to echo an environment unseen by its absent human occupants the camera waits patiently filming for a leaf to fall or spin in a spider's web.
